Putin Orders Weekend Truce in Ukraine; Kyiv Won't Take Part

According to CBN WORLD NEWS

Breaking news from Europe:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued an order for his Armed Forces to observe a 36-hour unilateral truce in Ukraine this weekend in honor of the Orthodox Christmas holiday. This order does not appear to be contingent on the acceptance of Ukraine, leaving it unclear if hostilities will actually cease or continue despite the ceasefire.

It is important to note that this is not the first time Russia has attempted to broker peace between itself and Ukraine as previous peace moves were dismissed by Ukrainian officials as being a ploy to give Russian forces time to regroup.

While most will hope that this new truce is taken seriously by all parties, many in Europe are still wary of Russia's intentions in terms of long-term stability in the area.

For now, all eyes are on Putin's orders and whether or not they will be followed, as his commands are essential for ensuring lasting peace between these two countries.

It is clear that the tensions between Russia and Ukraine have been escalating over the past few years, so any reprieve from conflict is welcomed news for those living in the region.

The world awaits with bated breath for any developments that could arise from Putin's order and whether or not it will be successful in bringing about peace between these two countries.
